Lightline 0.2 - Update Release


The post-jam version of Lightline is out! This version is mostly faithful to the jam edition, though does include some extra content.

(This took the longest time during the update. Even if you've already played, I recommend giving the levels an observant once-over. Exploration should be rewarded, and you might be in for a nice surprise.)

- Difficulty Adjustments

(The game is intended to be very dark and still challenges, though some monitors are set too dark to see properly. Enemies are slightly slower, the blackout effect from the mine enemy is reduced, and the amount the player can see is increased. It's still dark, but the difficulty of the game is not meant to come from running into walls!)

- Bug Fixes

- 3D Enemy Sound Filtering

(An in-depth comment mentioned an issue that came up some with the mine's enemy being close but behind a wall. This muffles the sound based on a path taken around the mine, not directly to the player, hopefully reducing confusion.)

Thanks to everyone who played the game or provided feedback, it was certainly a fun project to make. I might do a small write-up on it at some point.  As for updates, this is very likely the last that will come out of Lightline. 

 I am not against revisiting the idea in the future, however. Spoilers! - the laptop at the end was fully controllable and the player walked around with it in first person, but it was cut due to time constraints.  If I ever revisited Lightline I'd like to fully dive in to the inception aspect and have the player control something like 5 games at once, pure madness!
